On February 27, 2024, the body of a woman, identified as Heba Suhaib Haj Aref, was found by local residents in her house in her home city of Bza’a in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. Marks on the body indicated that Heba, a feminist activist and member of the Syrian Women’s Network, had been hanged by the neck before her death. The area is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not yet been able to identify Heba’s killers, with the controlling forces bearing responsibility for identifying her killers.
