On December 29, 2024, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) used a rocket launcher to fire multiple rockets at al-Alloush village to the east of Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, killing a local boy, identified as seven-year-old Bassel Nawwaf al-Salloum. The area is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this attack, SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
The SDF has also violated the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and fighters, which only aims to spread panic among civilians.
