On February 20, 2025, unidentified gunmen opened fire indiscriminately at Saint Elijah the Living in al-Qsair city in western rural Homs governorate. The church’s building and features were slightly damaged in the attack. The city is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
We condemn the attack on the church, and call on the controlling forces to launch an investigation into what happened.
