A girl, identified as two-year-old Jilan Hammou from Ashma village in the southern rural areas of Ein al-Arab city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, died on February 9, 2025, of wounds sustained the day before, February 8, 2025, in a drone attack that targeted a house in Ashma village. The attack is believed to be carried out by Turkish forces. The area targeted is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Turkish forces have violated international humanitarian law by killing civilians in this indiscriminate or deliberate attack, as they have failed to distinguish between civilians and fighters.
