On January 16, 2025, a drone, believed to be operated by Turkish forces, attacked a group of cars near Tishreen Dam in southeastern Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. The attack killed a man and his wife, identified respectively as Adham Mustafa Wisou and Hiza both from Halnaj village in the rural areas of Ein al-Arab city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, while 10 others were injured. The area targeted is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Turkish forces have violated international humanitarian law by killing civilians through this indiscriminate or deliberate bombardment, as they have failed to distinguish between civilians and fighters.
