A man, identified as 45-year-old Ibrahim al-Darj, was killed on June 27, 2024, by a stray gunfire of as yet unidentified source, while returning to his house in his home village of Mazra’et al-Darj in northern Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. This coincided with clashes between Syrian National Army (SNA) members and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) members near the village. Another man named Khaled Kamel al-Hlal, who was with Ibrahim at the time, was injured as well. The area is under the control of the SDF.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not yet been able to determine with of the two sides was responsible for Ibrahim’s death. SNHR condemns what happened. The controlling forces bear responsibility for holding the perpetrators accountable.
