A man, identified as Abdul Muhsin Ibrahim al-Asman, was shot dead on May 27, 2024, by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) patrolmen, with his brother Abdul Majid critically injured in the same incident. The two brothers were shot following a verbal dispute between the two and the SDF patrolmen near the national stadium in their home city of Raqqa. The area is under the control of the SDF.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this killing, the SDF has again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
