A man, identified as Abdullah Fadel al-Ja’dan, was critically injured on May 2, 2024, by a hand grenade thrown by an I.S.I.S personnel at his brother Jihad’s house in his home village of al-Hawayej in eastern rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate while Abdullah was inside. The area is under the control of Syrian Democratic Force (SDF).
