A thirteen-year-old child from Qartal village of Ein al Arab city in Aleppo governorate eastern suburbs, Ammar Muhammad Ismael, died on July 16, 2022, due to wounds sustained in the explosion of a landmine planted by unknown parties near Qartal village on July 15, 2022. The village is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces.
SNHR is still trying to reach witnesses of that incident to get more details.

We demand that the controlling regime forces bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control and that they determine the locations of mines planted there and remove them.

We have documented hundreds of deaths and injuries as a result of mine explosions; these munitions will continue to constitute a severe threat to the population of these areas in years to come, especially to children.
