A twelve-year-old boy, Mahmoud Ghassan Haj Ersal, was killed on July 1, 2022, by the explosion of a hand grenade he was playing with in front of his family’s home in al Bab city in Aleppo governorate eastern suburbs.

The city is under the control of the Syrian National Army. SNHR is still trying to reach eyewitnesses for more details of the incident.

SNHR condemns the random spread of weapons among civilians with no rules or restraints, and holds the controlling party responsible for stopping this phenomenon.
