Fatima Abdul Rahman al Ismail, a 28-year-old woman from Sfouhen village in the southern suburbs of Idlib governorate, who lived in Sfouhen IDP Camp in Atama Camp Complex near Atama village north of Idlib governorate, died on February 27, 2022 as a result of a gunshot wound to the head which she sustained 17 days earlier, on February 10, 2022, when she was shot by Hay’at Tahrir al Sham personnel near a checkpoint located between Deir Ballout area of Afrin city north of Aleppo governorate and Atama area north of Idlib while she was carrying diesel fuel between the two areas. The checkpoint  is on the boundary line between the areas which are respectively under the control of Hay’at Tahrir al Sham and the Syrian National Army.
SNHR notes that Hay’at Tahrir al Sham has violated international human rights law through this killing and targeting of civilians, and the perpetrators must be held accountable.
