At least six civilians were killed and 60 others were injured when a car bomb of so-far unknown origin exploded in the Dawwar Sejjo area around one kilometer from the Bab al Salama Syrian-Turkish border crossing near the village of Sejjo, also known as al Salama village, which is administratively a part of Izaz city in the northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate on July 19, 2020. SNHR notes that the site of the blast is a vital commercial area and a central hub for IDPs camps in the surrounding area. SNHR is still trying to contact witnesses to obtain more details of the incident.

SNHR condemns all explosions of this nature which target and kill civilians in a brutal and indiscriminate manner, and calls on the governing forces in each area to bear responsibility for protecting civilians in the areas under their control, and to conduct investigations into all such incidents and reveal their findings to the public. Stability will not be achieved in Syria without achieving a political transition towards democracy implemented according to a strict timetable.
