On Saturday, April 19, 2025, the dead body of a man, identified as Ammar al-Mohammad from Wadi al-Thahab neighborhood in Homs city who worked as a tat driver, was found bearing gunshot wounds by local residents near Misyaf bypass in western rural Hama governorate. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
According to information obtained by the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) from reliable local sources, Ammar had been abducted by unidentified gunmen, two days before his dead body was found, Thursday, April 17, while at the taxi station in the al-Inshaat neighborhood of Homs city. The body has been transported to the Homs General Hospital to be returned to his family.
SNHR continues to investigate the circumstances of the incident and to collect more information. As of the time of this report, the perpetrators remain unidentified.
SNHR calls on the transitional government to uphold its legal and moral responsibility to protect civilians and to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the incident in order to identify and hold the perpetrators accountable. SNHR also urges for strengthened efforts to protect human rights during the transitional period to prevent the recurrence of such crimes.
