A girl, identified as Rujin Izzdin Ahmad from Qarah Qawi Tehtani village (administratively a part of Ein al-Arab ‘Kubani’ city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate), born in 2009, a high school student, lives in Hasaka city was abducted on April 16, 2025, for military conscription, by the Syrian Democratic Forces’ (SDF) al-Shabiba al-Thawriya, (Revolutionary Youth) faction, also known as the ‘Joanne Schurchkar’, while on her way to store in Hasaka city/ back from school in Jern Aswad village. She was then taken to an SDF recruitment camp.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Rujin’s family has not been notified of what has happened to her, and she is forbidden to contact them or receive any visits from them. We are concerned that she will be forced to participate in direct and indirect military action.
It should be noted that approximately 413 children are currently conscripted in SDF military training camps.
