On March 6, 2025, a man, identified as Hassan Othman Khaled Seraj Ali from Hayyan town in northern rural Aleppo governorate, was killed, and his son injured, by a landmine of unidentified source that exploded under their car in the vicinity of al-Zeyara village in northern Aleppo governorate. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas and identify the locations of landmines and remove them. We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
