On March 5, 2025, the dead body of a woman, identified as 65-year-old Mariam Ali al-Hamid from Mrat village in eastern rural Deir Ez-Zour, was found bearing strangulation signs by local residents in al-Husainiya village in western Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The area is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not yet been able to identify who is responsible for Mariam’s death as of this writing. The controlling forces must uphold their responsibilities in identifying her killers.
