On March 22, 2025, a man, identified as Hamadi al-Marfoua from Mhimda village in western rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate, was killed, and two others were injured by a landmine of unidentified source that exploded under a tank truck on the road connecting the cities of Salamiya and Hama in eastern Hama governorate. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas and identify the locations of landmines and remove them. We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
