A man, identified as Ibrahim al-Qasem from Ayn Qrea village in the rural areas of Ma’aret al-Nu’man city in eastern rural Idlib governorate, was killed on February 27, 2025, by the explosion of a landmine of unidentified source while disarming landmines in Jabal al-Akrad district in northern rural Latakia governorate. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
