A man and a boy, respectively identified as 30-year-old Mahmoud Abdul Mez’el and 17-year-old Yazan Abdul Ilah both from Qawwas Janoub village to the south of Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, were killed on February 14, 2025, by the explosion of a landmine of unidentified source in the vicinity of Qawwas village. The area is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas and identify the locations of landmines and remove them. We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
