A man, identified as Abdul Razzaq Jasim al-Hussein from Rasm al-Daba village in eastern rural Hama governorate, was killed on February 9, 2025, by a landmine of unidentified source that exploded under his car in the area that connects Syria’s eastern badiya ‘desert area’ with eastern rural Hama governorate, which is located in the badiya of Raqqa. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas and identify the locations of landmines and remove them. We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
