A man, identified as Shadi Abdul Rahman al-Aswad from Tal Waset village in western rural Hama governorate, died on January 26, 2025, of wounds sustained the day before, January 25, in the explosion of a landmine of unidentified source while farming an agricultural land in al-Manarra village in western rural Hama governorate. The explosion also injured another civilian. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas and identify the locations of landmines and remove them. We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
