On December 27, 2024, a booby-trapped car of unidentified source was detonated in al-Saraya Street on the southern outskirts of Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. The explosion partially destroyed the entrance to the Grand ‘al-Kabir’ Mosque and moderately damaged its interior furnishing and contents. The bombing also partially destroyed a number of shops and buildings. The area is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR condemns all bombings targeting civilians and vital facilities. We call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities for protecting civilians in their areas, to investigate this incident, and to make the findings of the investigation known to the public.
