On December 8, 2024, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) used a rocket launcher, stationed in the mountains of Qabr Imou village in eastern Aleppo governorate, to fire multiple rockets at Kharfan village to the east of Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, killing 10 civilians, including one woman and child, with others injured. The area targeted is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this attack, SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
The SDF has also violated the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and members, which only aims to spread panic among civilians.
