On December 5, 2024, an armed opposition/Syrian National Army (SNA) artillery detachment fired multiple shells at al-Farat village, administratively affiliated with Manbij city, in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. The attack killed one local woman, identified as 45-year-old Nadima Hussein al-Hmoud, with another woman injured. The area targeted is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this attack, armed opposition factions/SNA has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
All armed opposition factions/SNA has also violated the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and members, which only aims to spread panic among civilians.
