On November 24, 2024, a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) artillery detachment fired a shell at al-Jarekh village to the west of Tal Abyad city in northern Raqqa governorate, injuring one woman in the abdomen area. She was then transferred to a Turkish hospital for treatment. The area targeted is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this attack, SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
SDF has also violated the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and members, which only aims to spread panic among civilians.
