On August 9, 2024, a Syrian regime forces detachment stationed in al- Boulayl village in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate used artillery and rocket launchers to fire multiple rockets and shells at al-Dahla village in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The attack resulted in two massacres; where five civilians, including two women and two children, were killed, with one child injured, in the first massacre. Meanwhile, six civilians, two women and four children two of them infants, were killed, while two women and two children were injured, in the second massacre. The area targeted is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that through this attack, Syrian regime forces have again unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 & 2254, both of which categorically prohibit indiscriminate attacks, as well as violating the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and fighters. Such attacks aim solely to spread fear and panic among civilians.
