On August 7, 2024, Syrian National Army (SNA) artillery forces fired multiple shells at Tal Ajjar village in Shran town, administratively a part of Afrin city in northwestern Aleppo governorate. One of the shells directly struck Tal Ajar Elementary School, partially destroying its perimeter fencing and schoolyard, with no material damage to the interior furnishing. The area targeted is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
