On August 9, 2024, a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) artillery detachment stationed in al-Sabha village in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate fired multiple shells at al-Boulayl village on the side opposite to the artillery detachment of the Euphrates River. The bombardment killed one woman, identified as Feryal Fares al-Ghadban, and one girl, identified as Razan Bassam al-Akla, while seven civilians, including five children and one woman, were injured to varying degrees. The area attacked is under the control of Syrian regime forces.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through the attack, the SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
The SDF has also violated the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and members, which only aims to spread panic among civilians.
