A man, identified as Mohammad Jasem al-Awwad al-Hayes, died on April 16, 2024, of wounds sustained on April 14, 2024, when he was shot dead by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) personnel in a raid on his home city of Granij in eastern rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The area is under the control of the SDF.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this killing, the SDF has again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
