On February 7, 2024, warplanes suspected to be affiliated with the Israeli air force bombed a two-story building in al-Hamra neighborhood in Homs city, resulting in a massacre. Initial estimates suggest that five civilians, including one woman, were killed and others were injured in the attack, while the building itself was completely destroyed. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses and survivors to obtain more information about the incident.

SNHR condemns all killings of civilians. We call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities for protecting civilians in their areas, to investigate this incident, and to make the findings of the investigation known to the public. Syria will never have true stability without a genuine political transition process towards democracy within a fixed timetable.
