A young man identified as Habash al-Layyas, from al-Azba town in western Deir Ez-Zour, was shot dead in the town on May 3, 2023, by members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), following a verbal altercation that escalated into an armed dispute between himself and SDF personnel.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this act of killing, SDF has violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
