A 43-year-old man, named Nouri Hamad al-Mohammad al-Allawi, was shot dead on April 16, 2023, by gunmen we have not yet been able to identify in front of his home in al-Arba’a Kim in Manbej city in the eastern suburbs of Aleppo governorate. The gunmen knocked on his door and waited for him to come out before shooting him repeatedly, with 10 bullets penetrating his body, killing him instantly.
The area is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident. We call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities for protecting civilians in their areas and to investigate this incident and make the findings of the investigation known to the public. Syria will never have true stability without a genuine political transition process towards democracy within a fixed timetable.
