On March 13, 2022, the bodies of Ibrahim Rajeh al-Afadla and Murad Hwyemel al-Afadla, two civilian shepherds from Kherbat Qays Gharbi town in western Daraa governorate, were discovered by local residents in the Ma’sarat al-Shemmari area between al-Mzayreeb and al-Ash’ari towns in the western suburbs of Daraa, bearing gunshot wounds to different parts of their bodies.

The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces. While the Syrian Network for Human Rights has been unable to identify their killers as of this writing, the controlling forces bear responsibility for identifying the killers. Since the controlling forces have launched no investigations into these killings, however, this raises suspicions of their involvement in these crimes.
