On February 2, 2023, the body of 31-year-old Adnan al-Thaher from Jub Nahed village in southern Manbej city in the eastern suburbs of Aleppo governorate, who lived in Manbej city, was found by local residents on the Jarablos road near Manbej Prison in the north of the city, with the body bearing stab wounds.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights notes that Adnan was abducted by individuals we have not yet been able to identify from al-Rabeta Street in the north of the city, three days before his body was found.

The city was under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) at the time of the incident. While we have not yet been able to identify the party responsible for his death, the controlling forces bear responsibility for finding his killers.
