Ahmad Mohammad al-Hammadi, aged 27, from the Tareeq al-Sadd neighborhood of Daraa city, who was among those who rectified their security situation with the Syrian regime, was shot dead near al-Omari Mosque in the city’s Daraa al-Balad area on November 16, 2022, by gunmen we have not yet been able to identify, who shot him from a car. The Daraa al-Balad area is controlled by Syrian regime forces.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain information about the incident.
We condemn all acts of killing targeting civilians. We call on the controlling parties to uphold their responsibilities for protecting civilians living in areas under their control, and to launch an investigation into this incident and make its details known to the public. Syria will never have true stability without a true political transition process to implement democracy under a concrete timetable.
