Fixed-wing warplanes, which we believe were Russian, fired missiles on two stonemasons’ workshops on the outskirts of Hafserja village in Idlib governorate western suburbs on September 17, 2022.
A civilian, identified as Ghiath al Kouz, was wounded in one of the airstrikes, and the target locations were severely damaged.
SNHR notes that the Russian forces previously committed a massacre of civilians on September 8, 2022 in airstrikes on a stonemason’s workshop and nearby civilian houses south of Hafserja village.
SNHR again condemns the bombardment of civilian locations by Syrian regime and Russian forces, as well as these forces’ failure to discriminate between these locations and military targets.
The international community should put pressure on the Syrian regime and its allies to force them to compensate the displaced victims, rehabilitate homes and vital centers, support the political transition process, and press all parties to pursue implementation of political transition according to a strict timetable which must not exceed six months, thus enabling millions of refugees and IDPs to return home.
