Two siblings, Suleiman and Malek Ayoub al Okla, from al Dwair village east of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, were shot and killed on January 12, 2022, by armed individuals whose identity we’ve been unable to ascertain while they were in al Kashma village in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, an area under the control of Syrian Regime forces.
SNHR is still trying to reach eyewitnesses for more details on the incident.
SNHR condemns all killings of civilians and calls on the controlling forces to shoulder their responsibility for protecting the civilians in areas under their control, and to launch an investigation into the incident and reveal its conclusions to the public. There will be no stability in Syria without a genuine political process towards democracy according to a set timetable.
