On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the dead body of a man, identified as Hassan Abdul Hadi Yousef from Qarfis village in southern rural Latakia governorate, was found bearing gunshot wounds by local residents near al-Zahraa Bakery in Qarfis village. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
According to information obtained by the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) from reliable local sources, Hassan had gone missing the day before, Monday, April 28.
SNHR is still investigating this incident and collecting more information. As of this writing, the perpetrators are still unidentified.
SNHR calls on the transitional government to uphold its legal and moral responsibility to protect civilians in their areas, and to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the incident in order to identify and hold the perpetrators accountable.
