A girl, identified as Farida Khalil Mohammad from Bakhja village (adminstratively a part of Afrin city in northwestern Aleppo governorate, born in 2009, lives in Aleppo city’s al-Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, was abducted on March 15, 2025, for military conscription, by the Syrian Democratic Forces’ (SDF) al-Shabiba al-Thawriya, (Revolutionary Youth) faction, also known as the ‘Joanne Schurchkar’, near the vegetables market in Blalikou Street in al-Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood. She was then taken to an SDF recruitment camp.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Farida’s family has not been notified of what has happened to her, and she is forbidden to contact them or receive any visits from them. We are concerned that she will be forced to participate in direct and indirect military action.
It should be noted that approximately 413 children are currently conscripted in SDF military training camps.
