On February 17, 2025, the dead body of a man, identified as 32-year-old Alaa Mohammad Shahin from al-Zahra neighborhood in Homs city, was found bearing gunshot wounds by local residents near Dik al-Jin area in the orchards al-Wa’er neighborhood in Homs city. Alaa had gone missing two days earlier while he was on his way back from work in Karm Shamsham neighborhood in Homs city. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not yet been able to identify who is responsible for Alaa’s death as of this writing. The controlling forces must uphold their responsibilities in identifying his killers.
