On January 23, 2025, two civilians were shot and injured when Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) shot them directly in a raid on a river crossing in Swyedan Jazira village to the east of Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The area is under the control of the SDF.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that SDF has violated international human rights law by targeting civilians. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
