On January 19, 2025, a man, identified as Belal Mohammad al-Hassouna from al-Ra’fiya village in eastern rural Idlib governorate, was killed, while another was injured, by the explosion of a landmine of unidentified source as the two were disarming landmines in Joubas region in eastern rural Idlib governorate. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
