On January 11, 2025, an armed opposition factions/Syrian National Army (SNA) artillery detachment fired multiple shells at Ber Hessou village to the east of Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, injuring two local child siblings, identified as Hani and Jasim Ali al-Hasnawi. The two children were taken to Ein al-Arab city in eastern Aleppo governorate for treatment. The area is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that all armed opposition factions/SNA have unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254 on ending indiscriminate attacks. All armed opposition factions/SNA also violated international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and fighters, which spread mass panic among civilians.
