On December 17, 2024, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) used a rocket launcher to fire multiple rockets at al-Haj Hussein village to the southeast of Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. The attack killed a local boy, identified as 10-year-old Farhan Mahmoud al-Hajji. The area is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this attack, SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
The SDF has also violated the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and members, which only aims to spread panic among civilians.
