On November 23, 2024, a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) artillery detachment fired a shell at Abla village to the south of Akhtarin town in eastern Aleppo governorate, injuring three civilians from the same family. The attack also partially destroyed a residential building, while heavily damaging its contents. The area targeted is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this attack, the SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
The SDF has also violated the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and members, which only aims to spread panic among civilians.
