On November 12, 2024, the body of a man, identified as Ibrahim Rashid al-Smadi from Smad town in eastern rural Daraa governorate who lived in Ghasam village in eastern Daraa governorate, was found bearing gunshot wounds by the locals on the agricultural road connecting the two towns of al-Sahwa and al-Msaifra in eastern Daraa governorate. Ibrahim’s body was found after he had gone missing two days earlier. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Ibrahim is a civilian, but he has been accused of engaging in witchcraft, however.
SNHR has not yet been able to identify Ibrahim’s killers as of this writing, with the controlling forces bearing responsibility for identifying his killers.
