On October 8, 2024, fixed-wing warplanes, suspected to be Israeli, fired three missiles at a building in al-Mazza neighborhood in Damascus city. The attack resulted in a massacre, in which six civilians, including three children and two women, were killed, while 11 others were injured, in an initial estimate. The attack also resulted in damages to some civilian properties. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR condemns all killings of civilians. We call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas, and investigate this incident, and make the findings available to the public. There will be no true stability in Syria without a political transition process to democracy in line with a fixed timetable.
