On September 7, 2024, a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) detachment used heavy machine guns to target Um Wartha village near Jarablos city in eastern Aleppo governorate, injuring four children from the same family, who were transferred to local hospital for treatment. The area is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this attack, the SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
The SDF has also violated the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and members, which only aims to spread panic among civilians.
