A boy, identified as 13-year-old Muthanna Hamid Mohammad al-Saleh from al-Boulayl village in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate, was killed on August 7, 2024, by a gunfire of unidentified source while he was sleeping on the rooftop of his family’s house in his home village. This killing took place amid clashes between Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Arab tribes fighters near the village. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not yet been able to identify the party responsible for Muthanna’s death. The warring parties must take responsibility for identifying the killers.
We condemn these clashes and call for a permanent and immediate ceasefire, and for compensating the victims.
