A boy, identified as 13-year-old Mohammad Farhan al-Shebli from Harir al-Hatem village in Markada town in southern rural Hasaka governorate, was shot and killed on July 25, 2024, by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) personnel and US-led International Coalition forces helicopters as he was trying to flee during a joint raid by the SDF and the Coalition on his home village. The area is under the control of the SDF.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that the SDF and the Coalition have violated international human rights law through this act of killing. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
